Effective date: July 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information AshtaBodha ("the App", "we", "us", "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. AshtaBodha is developed and operated by Nivarus. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
When you register for an account, we collect:
To generate your astrological chart, dasha periods, transits, and daily forecasts, we collect the birth details you provide:
This birth data is central to how the App works and is used only to power chart calculations, forecasts, and related features within the App.
If you purchase a premium subscription or one-time unlock, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We receive and store a purchase token, your subscription tier, and its expiry date, which our server verifies with Google to determine your access level. We do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Google Play.
If you enable Daily Notifications, reminders (such as favorable transit alerts) are scheduled locally on your device using your device's own notification system. This does not involve push-notification services or third-party messaging providers, and no separate data is collected for this feature beyond the on/off preference itself, stored on your device.
The App does not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. When your device communicates with our backend server (for example, to fetch chart data or verify a purchase), standard technical information is generated as part of any internet request, such as your IP address and request timestamps captured in ordinary server logs. This information is used only for security, debugging, and abuse prevention, and is not used to build advertising profiles.
We use the information described above to:
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Encryption in transit: All communication between the App and our backend server — including registration, login, birth data submission, and profile retrieval — is sent over HTTPS (TLS-encrypted). We do not transmit account credentials or birth data over unencrypted connections.
Password storage: We never store your password itself. Passwords are converted to a salted cryptographic hash (industry-standard, one-way) at the moment you register, and that hash — not your password — is what's kept on our server and checked at login. We cannot recover your original password, even internally.
On-device storage: A session credential is cached on your device using secure, encrypted platform storage (Android Keystore-backed secure storage) so you don't need to log in every time you open the App. This data stays on your device and is not readable by other apps.
Server-side storage: Your account and birth data are stored on our backend, hosted on Railway, a cloud application-hosting provider. We take reasonable measures to protect data stored on our servers, including access controls limiting who can reach production data. As with any online service, no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed 100% secure.
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only as needed to operate the App:
We do not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social media SDKs, and we do not share your data with data brokers.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
We retain your account and birth data for as long as your account remains active, so the App can continue providing chart calculations and forecasts. If you delete your account or request deletion (see Section 8), we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain limited records (for example, purchase records) for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.
AshtaBodha is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 9 and we will take steps to delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data:
If you are located in the EEA or UK, we process your data on the basis of your consent (when you register and enter birth details), and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the App. You have the rights listed above, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of that information, and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no "opt-out of sale" action required.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 9. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data (account details and birth data) at any time by emailing us at the address below. We will process deletion requests within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any records we are legally required to retain (such as billing records related to completed purchases).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, or would like to exercise any of the rights described above, please contact us at: nivarusdesk@gmail.com
